Our distilling classes are designed to provide a foundation to individuals wanting to learn about distilling and the craft industry. As operators of a “grain-to-the-glass” distillery, we are able to provide the complete experience for prospective distillers.
The 45th Parallel Distillery Distilling School now offers two day distilling classes. Classes are conducted in our fully functioning distillery. Your instructor is an experienced distiller and business owner.
Students are welcome to actively participate with or observe production of distilled spirits from a grain source. Open discussion and Q&A between students and the instructor is encouraged.
We understand you will not be able to absorb all the information and will have questions down the road, so written instruction will be provided and limited follow up consulting is included in the price.
In this comprehensive distilling course, our topics will include:
- Mashing & fermenting
- Distilling: pot and column
- Blending: water treatment
- Bottling & packaging
- Distillery: set-up & equipment
- Business planning: start-up and costs of goods sold
- Raw materials & disposal
- Government: gauging, reporting and permits
- Producing vodka, gin & whiskeys

Classes start at 8:30 a.m. each day, and end at approximately 5:30 p.m.
